July 29 What was I thinking? (Not much obviously)I signed up for a play.
What was I thinking? I barely have enough time to sleep, let alone commit to theatre.
*Sigh*
==========================
Me and a friend saw this ad about the Theatre Week at our college last month.
Well, we thought it'd be something fun to do. Playfully speaking, of course.
I didn't think I'd actually do it.
Sometimes, we say a lot of things we don't mean.
Like making a resolution to go on a strict diet EVERY New Year's Eve. (only to ransack the snack pantry 20 minutes later, foaming at the mouth in the quest to find a Rolo)
Or deciding to stop my obsession with all things chocolate. (that was a silly notion to begin with. Who in their right mind would give up chocolate?! Show me one, and I'll show you one of Bush's brain cell)
You know, things that you say just because you know you can and you wouldn't think anyone'd take it seriously.
==========================
The end of the week found me holding a copy of the script to "The Importance Of Being Earnest".
Don't ask how that happen, because I really don't know.
My theory would be that my guardian angel, Brock, was hospitalized for food-poisoning after he went to the weekend BBQ,
and therefore had to neglect his duties to me and my life now is being temporarily minded by an intern angel who is filling in for Brock, and kept accidently pressing the insanity button on my life switchboard.
===========================
So last week, me and some friends (their guardian angels were also in the hospital for eating Brock's shrimp gumbo) walked our way to the meeting.
Considering the fact that I haven't finished reading the script yet, I didn't know what to expect.
The director(!) yammered on about commitment, hard work and all.
Bla bla bla, props, yada yada yada, costumes, bla bla, music. Well, you get the idea.
The cast was pretty interesting.
This guy who plays the lead character, Ernest Worthing, was amusing to watch.
While the rest of us, the props & costume ppl, were having our own meeting to 'discuss' the play, he walked (stomped would be more proper, very passionate he was) around, practicing his lines.
Funny thing was, he kept throwing his arms around like a helicopter and yelling his lines with a very, very fake British accent.
Let's just say he was as British as French Fries are French. lol!
=============================
Despite all that, it wasn't bad at all.
I'm really glad that I get to do something else than studying electric circuits OR trying to figure out the centroid of a parabola :)
After the meeting, me and my friends walked around the campus with hot, steaming 'pau' in our hands.
Did I mention that the campus is really nice at night? The moon, the breeze, the people etc.
Yep, I'm definitely joining the theatre-boat for good.
Oh, and the most important reason why I didn't quite the play is because I know I'll be doing it with some of the most important ppl in my life, my friends, and I know we'll have a great time doing it. :)
